Ford Castle has belonged to the Lord Joicey family since 1907 and sits on the Ford and Etal Estates. It has been operated from 1956 by Northumberland County Council as an Outdoor Education Centre for schools, closing for the winter period in September 2011.
The Castle re-opens in April 2012 and will be operated jointly by the Château Beaumont group and Northumberland County Council. This partnership will ensure that its beautiful buildings, stunning scenery and wealth of educational opportunities remain available for generations of schoolchildren to come.
Château Beaumont is an experienced Outdoor Education provider for UK school groups at its own activity centre in France; it also offers English as a Foreign Language (EFL) for French children and Summer Day Camps. The joint operation of Ford Castle brings almost 70 years of collective experience in offering outdoor education to schools, so you can rest assured you will have a safe, friendly, educational and fun time at Ford Castle.
Château Beaumont is registered with the Adventure Activities Industry Advisory Committee (AAIAC) and is a full member of the Travel Trust Association (TTA), the British Adventure Holdiay Association (BAHA) and holds the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge.
